DEWORMING YOUR PETS - WORLD WIDE RESISTANCE read on.......

WORLD WIDE RESISTANCE TO ROUNDWORMS ……………

WORMING YOUR DOG/PUPPY ……..  new information received recently….

Deworming of your pets is vitally important, whether they have worms or not. Some dogs/pups become resistant to certain makes of dewormers. It is now known that World wide, there is resistance in some makes of Dewormer to roundworm.  NEW dewormers are going to have to be manufactured. It is a well known fact that certain dogs/pups if the same dewormer is used continually, they may very well become resistant to that make of dewormer. You as the Breeder or owner, religiously deworm thinking all this time your dogs are worm free when in actual fact they are not.

HOW do you overcome this problem?  Change your make of dewormer all the time. Deworm regularly and if at any stage you feel your dog may still have a worm infestation, ask your vet to do a stool test. Your vet can also do flotations and the flotation is a very effective way for your vet to determine whether your dog has still got worms or worm eggs etc.

A dog or pup scooting its rear end along the floor was always thought to be a dog with worms????? NOT SO, if your dogs anal glands are not empty or slightly enlarged, the dog will do this in an effort to release the pressure build up and empty the glands. If your dog or pet persistently does this, see a vet. The vet in most cases will admit the dog and sort the problem.  I do not find this a problem in my Yorkies, in all these years I have yet to have a dog admitted for this treatment.
