Hello, my name is Geraldine and I would like to know if there is any chance you can help me and my grandson out.  I do have an article from the newspaper that you can google to see that I am speaking the truth. Also I have give the reporter, Teresa Holloway (073 9266 998) to confirm my story. The article to google is Titled “Gestremde dowe en blinde Triston se nood

For a few years now, I am looking after my grandson who was born deaf, blind, and has a heart condition. As a grandmother, I have taken my time to look after him 24/7 for crèches find it difficult to communicate with him (as he has certain cries that I have got to know over time and realize when he is thirsty, hungry, or in pain) He cries, and I do understand him. Other people don’t know how to handle a child in his condition, in the crèches that we have tried out, and little Triston(going to 6yrs) screams when he is in a place he is not comfortable with or unknown to him.

He has been put through all the tests that they can give him for his eyes and ears, but unfortunately there is nothing they can do for him.  I am looking after him and making sure he is happy, with a lot of love and attention. Unfortunately I cant go out to work now. Because I have to stay at home and keep him indoors and in his room where he feels safe and secure.

I am an artist and I am battling to get some work in, as I cant drive around to much, as Triston does not like the bright light and gets very frustrated if kept too long in a car chair. I don’t have the money to spend to make adverts or to advertise in the newspaper, as I am battling to make ends meet.  I was wondering if you would be kind enough to let me send you some of my work.  I was wondering if you would be interested in a pencil portrait of yourself, or family. I am doing it at a reasonable price, I have dropped in my prices to try and get people interested, at least for one portrait to be done

I work from a clear photo given by the person who would like a portrait done for their home, friends, or family members. It is a nice gift to give to someone else. Or have a family portraits done for a certain wall in their home

Please if you would like to see some photos of my grandson and some of my work.  I am only asking, R200 per person on a A4 and I will include postage so it will be a bargain.   Trying to keep it as cheap as possible, as everyone says I am too expensive( but don’t realize the time I put into my art- lots of detail)  Please I ask kindly as I cant get around, but everyone says I do have the talent and I really want to show you, my work, please can you pass it on to family, friends or members.  If you want to see my facebook where some of my work is on. Facebook: Geraldine’s Art PencilArt

I don’t ask for charity, only to sketch a portrait of anything like : family, pets, horses, cars, motorbike etc.  Only the portraits of people are R200  if anything else like a motorbike, it will be a little more as it takes a bit longer to sketch.

Please give me the opportunity to do a portrait for you

Thanks for taking the time to read my email.

I look forward to your reply

Kind Regards

Grandmother

Geraldine

GESTREMDE DOWE EN BLINDE TRISTON SE NOOD

By Teresa Holloway

Triston van Zyl (5).

VANDERBIJLPARK.

“Soms wonder ek net hoe gaan my seun se lewe wees,” sê Irene.
